As you indicated in your answers, there will be some smaller changes in the manuscript according to uncertainties and the figures. Moreover, I have some minor comments which should also be included in a revised version in order to enhance the accessibility of your work to an international audience:
Page 2, line 7: Given the significance of flood hazards as well as other natural hazards, e.g. debris flows and extreme weather events... -> Here it would be good for the international readers to provide some Citations.
You may wish to refer to Fig. 1 in Fuchs et al. (2015), or any other citable source (this is not because of name dropping, there is hardly any study available for the Republic of Austria).

Page 2, line 18: ...in order to mitigate (residual) risks from natural hazards. -> I have concerns about the wording here, maybe it is better to speak about "residual hazards" instead since we will always have to deal with residual risks (due to the use of a design event in risk management).

Page 2, line 26: Although a few established flood damage models such as the Rhine Atlas damage model (RAM) and the Damage Scanner model (DSM) consider direct flood damage to infrastructure by dedicated depth-damage curves,... -> please provide a proper reference to these "established" models here, such as the International Commission for the Protection of the Rhine or sth. else.

Page 3, line 2: ...i.e. photo documented, flood damage data collected during and after the March River flood in Lower Austria in 2006. The model RAIL is capable of estimating 1) the expected structural damage for the standard cross-section of railway tracks using water depths as a basis, and 2) resulting repair costs. -> as such, this approach is comparable to similar approaches in vulnerability analysis, such as e.g. ... and ... (Thieken, Kreibich for larger rivers, and maybe Totschnig or Papathoma-Köhle with respect to dynamic torrential flooding, you will find appropriate examples).

Page 3, line 18: Accordingly, the implementation of risk aversion in the risk quantification of flood risk for railway infrastructure allows putting special emphasis on the ultimate premise of the ÖBB to ensure safety of passengers and personnel. -> here it would be good to refer to the respective Austrian law (Eisenbahngesetz, BGBl. Xxx, you can check the Austrian RIS online).

Page 5, paragraph on Flood hazard maps in Austria: could you please supplement this paragraph with citations? -> the international reader could then better accesss the resources.

Page 5, line 9/10: could you specify this involvement of the private company riocom -> if it is important for the content, ok, otherwise I would suggest to re-write the sentence (to avoid covered advertising in a scientific journal)

Page 5, line 13: avoid "Geoinformationsystem (GIS)", just use GIS
